innovative method of psychotherapy

innovative method of psychotherapy

It is better to look looking for nature. Nature is the best and stress-free.
In psychotherapy, occupational therapy – so important in coping with stress and aimed at accelerating the return of lost function and fitness – takes various forms. We distinguish between ergotherapy, art therapy, aesthetic therapy, chromotherapy, kinesitherapy and relaxation activities. Thus, we can engage, depending on the need in pottery and ceramics, gardening and carpentry, we can experience therapy through art through librarianship, dance and movement therapy, music therapy, or enjoy good contact with the beauty of the environment and nature, surrounding ourselves with therapeutic colors.
Acting within the framework of our project entitled: “Development, research and implementation of an innovative method of psychotherapy using virtual reality glasses with software to support the course of treatment,” we decided to combine the potential of occupational therapies with that of virtual reality, which activates the imagination and our inner resources. Isolated from our problems and surroundings, we have the chance through the exercise support of our virtual glasses to find the strength, energy and inner resources within ourselves and ultimately the help we need in the healing process.
The last six months have been many hours of the last part of the work, full of cooperation between a team of computer scientists and psychologists resulting in a tool to support the work of therapists. Engaging in the project 3 years ago, we lived in a different reality unaware of how much importance the problems of stress and depression would take on.

During the project’s closing event at Medica Space in Pszczyna on 28.12.2023r. and a lecture devoted to, among other things, the future of modern technologies in the treatment of stress and depression, the predictions of experts quoted by the presenters that by 2030 depression and mental health diseases will become the first most frequently diagnosed disease entity in the world left no illusions about the direction of change. We are all the more pleased to see the development work and thus the project work completed. We realize that it is only a tool – useless if it is devoid of human activity, i.e. the patient and the therapist. Virtual reality is, of course, a modern computer technology that simulates the real environment, but if it affects and can affect the sensory – sight, hearing or touch, and can contribute to increasing motivation and involvement of the patient in the rehabilitation and recovery process, then it is certainly worth attention.
Just as noteworthy are the recommendations of specialists is the use of our vr glasses with therapeutic games – a valuable support for the treatment of nervous system disorders, prevention of falling asleep; a way to relieve emotional tension in situations of emotional overload, a way to relieve emotional tension in situations of excessive stress, such as before procedures, dental appointments, exams, etc.
Although this is the beginning of our journey, it certainly seems very interesting and necessary – just as the coming 2024 will be interesting and necessary. – Which we wish for ourselves and for you. Have a great year!
