Hippocrates already knew that “Health requires a state of balance between the influences of the environment, the way of life and the various elements of human nature.” That is why all health-promoting activities are so important – we seek the well-being of the person and the health of the patient. Since 1992, on the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), every 10th of October we celebrate World Mental Health Day. This day and the entire month of October are an opportunity to assess progress in the field of mental health care, analyze statistics and forms of action taken in relation to dealing with emotions.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression, 50 million from dementia, 23 million from schizophrenia and 60 million show symptoms of bipolar disorder. WHO projections show that by 2030, depression will become the most commonly diagnosed disease entity in the world. It is interesting to note the list of the 10 symptoms most commonly associated with depression listed in a cyclical report titled. “Mental Health of Poles. Depression is among us…”, presented by UCE Research and the ePsycholodzy.pl platform. The first item on the list is lowered mood – 40.3%, followed by feelings of fatigue and lack of energy – 36.6%, and sleep disorders – 27.1%. So how to take care of mental health? It is important to look for ways to cope with stress, not to limit relaxation and rest, to break toxic relationships, to take care of physical activity and a healthy diet, to work with one’s emotions, to let oneself be helped, to use the support of loved ones and, if necessary, the professional help of a psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist. You can also discover the potential in virtual reality – a new frontier in mental health treatment, due to its ability to create controlled environments, customized to individual therapeutic needs. It is possible to choose virtual reality encounters and be transported to a completely different world for a moment, to experience specific stimuli in safe, controlled conditions. Join us in our world inspired by chromotherapy, animal therapy and forest therapy.
