innovative method of psychotherapy

According to Albert Einstein, “Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you have to keep moving forward”. This is very difficult, especially today, when the biggest challenge at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century is the phenomenon of being ‘overstimulated’ by too much information, tasks, deadlines or change. The ever-increasing pressure of expectations, results and a world filled with extremes disturbs our chances for rest, regeneration and balance, which consequently leads to chronic stress, exhaustion, burnout and depression. This is where the technology of the future can come to the rescue – virtual reality, known as the future of medicine. Virtual surgeries, remote rehabilitation of patients and innovative training of medical professionals are already a reality, on which two worlds are working together: IT and the professions that care for our health. Without this cooperation, it would not be possible to achieve the goal of isolating ourselves from the world of stimuli, working on the implementation of healthy habits to maintain a balance of physical and mental health through the support of virtual reality technology.

According to Dr Ewelina Smoktunowicz, the task of technology is not to replace providers of support, but to support them in reaching the widest possible audience. The availability of support can be increased by using interactive programmes, apps, virtual reality, chatbots and artificial intelligence. It is easier to cope with stress and, above all, to prevent it by systematically practising e.g. using virtual glasses and using proven methods confirmed by scientific research, which provide a new way in the patient-therapist relationship. According to Professor Michał Kleiber, technologies will certainly not replace doctors in the future, but doctors who will use them wisely will replace those who will not use these technologies at all. It is important to look for the right tools, to use virtual reality and to prevent chronic stress – for health, work on changing the way we perceive a stressful situation, on recovery and on healthy habits that increase resistance to stress. We hope that our APO VR glasses will help with this too.
